The queen of the business lunch has outdone herself.
THE ART OF THE BUSINESS LUNCH by Robin Jay, was right up my alley. As Robin explains in her introduction, she was an advertising account executive for more than 18 years and had taken clients out to lunch more than 3,000 times. No one knows more than Robin how to take that business lunch and turn it in your favor.
At first, I wasn’t sure if this book was going to appeal to me being as I have been on zero business lunches, but the more I read, the more I understood the concept and the reasoning behind writing the book and, yes, not only did it appeal to me, but it has made me look at business lunches a lot different from before.
THE ART OF THE BUSINES LUNCH shows you ways to cater to your clients that will help you to build more substantial and profitable relationships. It explains how you can judge future clients by what they wear, what they order down and how they pay the check.
What I liked about this book was that it opened up my eyes to just how important simple lunches with anyone can tell you a lot about that person. If you are interested in becoming partners with anyone, take them out to lunch because by the end of the meal, you’ll know whether that potential partner will be worth your time after that check is paid.
In THE ART OF THE BUSINESS LUNCH, you will find out how you can avoid that awkward first meeting by picking up your clients at their office. It will tell you why it’s important to make a reservation instead of just popping into a restaurant off the street. It will show you how and what to order, whether it is okay to order alcohol and when to bring up the subject of business over lunch. It will explain proper cell phone etiquette and how to pay for lunch discreetly.
THE ART OF THE BUSINESS LUNCH will show you that the best way to build a better business relationship is by taking them out to lunch before you do anything else.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you own a business or manage a business, hurry right now and buy a copy of this book. Robin is the queen of the business lunch and through her expertise in wining and dining future clients, she won’t steer you wrong.
