Meggie’s Remains is a superb romantic suspense novel that will capture you from the very first moment you enter Colorado Territory.

Meghan McMurphy flees Boston and her past with few belongings and her copy of Jane Eyre. Arriving in Denver, she hopes to lose herself in the city where the nightmares might not reach her. When dashing Ethan Rourke stumbles upon Meggie on a snowy Denver street, he believes the woman must be insane. But Ethan has no idea of the life she’s lived or the secret she is determined to keep hidden.

Assuming the name Rose Rochester, Meggie is hired as a teacher in an isolated mountain town in rugged Ute country. Settling in to make a life for herself–and hoping for a life simliar to that of the main characters of her beloved romance novel–Meggie knows that somehow and someway, the monstrous changeling from her nightmares will find her, killing any possibility of a life at all.

Sundell creates two multi-faceted and intriguing characters whose experiences are as different from each other’s as night is to day; develops feelings between them that neither is willing to accept or act on; and comes out with a huge winner.   Meggie’s story is one of pain and terror while Ethan’s is a story of tragedy and loss. Battling against their growing feelings, each time that it seems Meggie and Ethan will end up together, Sundell tears them apart and keeps the reader turning the pages. And as if that isn’t enough, Meggie’s past is slowly creeping up to get her, and she knows it!

In addition to historical accuracy and attention to detail, Sundell’s ability to create realistic characters makes Meggie’s Remains an excellent read. You can tell that she has lived and breathed each of the characters she has created: Meggie and Ethan, their friends and associates, even the villain.

With a touch of the paranormal, this book becomes an engaging and intriguing read. Anyone who enjoys romantic suspense, an historical love story, complex characters and a book that you can’t put down will want to read Meggie’s Remains.

Brilliant and engrossing, The House on Tradd Street by Karen White brings the reader through Charleston’s deep-rooted history and Confederate legends to uncover a story of passion, heartbreak, and murder.

Real estate agent Melanie Middleton visits with the elderly Nevin Vanderhorst just days before his unexpected death. Melanie isn’t much into historic homes–even though she sells them for a living. She much prefers new construction, free of the ghosts that she’s seen since childhood. When she inherits Vanderhorst’s historic Tradd Street home she is less than thrilled, but their meeting and Nevin’s letter about the mother he is sure would never have abandoned him encourage her to restore the house at 55 Tradd Street and try to unravel the mystery surrounding Louisa Vanderhorst’s sudden disappearance.

In walks stunningly gorgeous Jack Trenholm, a true-crime writer obsessed with unsolved mysteries. He believes that the diamonds from the missing Confederate Treasury are stashed inside the house. Using Louisa‘s story Jack is able to convince Melanie to let him help with the restoration of the house in exchange for allowing him to perform research for his next book.

Neither of them quite knows what they are getting into. An evil ghost also resides in the house on Tradd Street and it doesn’t want Melanie or Jack telling Louisa’s story. How far will this spirit go to keep a secret?

This book captured me from the very first sentence. Steeped in Charleston’s history and Civil War legends, The House on Tradd Street is a rare gem among paranormal mysteries. Exquisitely told, rich in descriptions, and filled with multi-faceted characters whose past lives are eloquently woven into each others, I was sad to read the last word of this moving novel.

White gets right to the heart of things by blending family secrets, love, legends, and the charm of the South, creating an emotional tale that will leave you begging for more. The cover art is strikingly handsome and truly completes one of the best novels I’ve read in my lifetime.

Lovers of southern fiction, paranormal mysteries, and moving stories that tug at the heartstrings will want to read The House on Tradd Street by Karen White.

The Jaguar Legacy is an outstanding, gripping, and suspense-filled novel by first time author, Maureen Fisher.

Charley Underhill’s journalism career has been put on hold thanks to a series of strange panic attacks. Searching to get back on track, Charley travels to a Mexican archaelogical dig hoping to grab a great story, which will resuscitate her career and give her enough money to put her alcoholic mother into rehab.

When Charley arrives unannounced, Dr. Alistair Kincaid is less than thrilled. His reputation has been ruined once before, and the last thing he needs is some nosey reporter poking around. But the next plane won’t arrive for a week, so they are stuck with each other.

The plane also left behind another package–Kincaid’s ex-wife, Leila. He’s even less happy to see her, especially after the way she betrayed him. But Leila thinks it might be time for a reconciliation.

Kincaid’s reputation as a ladies man makes Charley want to keep him at bay, but she can’t deny her attraction to him. After Kincaid and Charley negotiate terms on an interview, he turns on the charm, hoping the feisty, beautiful Charley will keep his bed warm for the next week.

Dangers at the dig site erupt as Kincaid and his team get ever closer to uncovering an ancient Olmec city, and Charley’s panic attacks kick into overdrive, leading her to wonder what connection the attacks have to the site. As Kincaid’s field director warns him that disturbing the site could put them all at risk, Leila’s late night walks through the jungle leave Charley concerned about what she might be up to. And as Charley’s attraction to Kincaid grows, she wonders if she can do what is necessary to save her career and her mother from certain death.

Outstanding and Powerful! The Jaguar Legacy by Maureen Fisher had me hooked from the first word to the last. Fisher has woven ancient mysteries, past lives, and pure evil, into a story that left me begging for more. These characters were so well-developed, the storyline so well-written, the setting so perfectly described, that I felt I knew these people and followed them along their journey into darkness.

I eagerly await Maureen Fisher’s next release.
