Rebuilding Civilization on the Bible by Dr. Jay Grimstead – Win a $25 Amazon Gift Card

Rebuilding Civilization on the Bible coverTitle:  Rebuilding Civilization on the Bible: Proclaiming the Truth on 24 Controversial Issues

About the book:

False teachings threatening to corrupt the Church forced the leaders to join in councils, where they codified the orthodox teaching of the Bible into creeds received by the Church as faithful distillations of Scriptural truth and as a bulwark against future corruption. Error, heresy, and outright paganism are today common in churches that were once sound. Even many “better” churches have little depth to their teaching and are silent on critical issues of the day, and even in some paganism masquerades as Christianity.

This book is the fruit of the work of hundreds of theologians and Christian leaders working throughout a 37-year period to define and defend the key Biblical points on 24 controversial issues — which would not even be controversial if all believed like Jesus and Paul in the inerrancy of the Bible.

This book states the Bible’s position on 24 controversial issues and explains why each document needed to be written. It offers the global Body of Christ tools for reforming the Church and motivating Christians to live in obedience to Christ and to all commands in the Bible intended for us.

Excerpt:

“We heartily invite all Christians on this planet who desire to live in obedience to the Bible in all areas of life at all times, to form themselves and their local churches into “United Spiritual Armies” at the city and county levels, and to establish a network with other such churches and “spiritual armies” at their state and national levels with the goal of making Christ King of their cities and nation. We invite you to join with us in applying these 24 DOCUMENTS to the life of the Church and in making 2 Cor. 10:5 a reality. By that we mean that together we are called by God to destroy “speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.”

About the book:

Indian nationalist leader Mahatma Gandhi has been quoted as saying “I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” This is a sad indictment of the Christian community as a whole.  Is it true?  Are believers in Christ the reason people keep their distance from Judeo-Christian beliefs and the God we embrace?  I feel there’s no question that we’re partially to blame.  In this book I touch on a wide variety of topics, but in the end call out Christians to immerse themselves in a time of reassessment as we all strive to be more genuine and consistent in our faith.

God loves you. You are of immeasurable value to Him. So much so He sent His Son to die for you. He knows your heart. He knows your schedule. If you desire to be closer to Him, then it will happen.

Guest post, The Busy Mom’s Daily

I see the brethren struggling in their faith. I wrote this particular book to instruct them and help them make some possible necessary changes.

Interview at The Book Connection

An excellent tool for salvation use.

Review, Vic’s Media Room

The best portion of the book to me was the realization that Christians are not called to judge non-Christians…It was a definitive validation for the author to back up what I believed with Scripture.

Review, My Devotional Thoughts

If you are looking to revitalize your relationship with God and learn how you can more effectively draw others to Him, Man’s Rejection of God: Who’s Responsible? is a book you should take a look at.

Tactics, Trends, & Traits of the Enemy Book Blitz – Win a $25 Amazon Gift Card

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Tactics, Trends, & Traits of the Enemy by author Jermaine Gadson is a must have resource for believers who want to be well equipped to be victorious against the strategies of the devil. The devil is cunning and deceptive, and he will stop at nothing to keep God’s people from reaching their potential in Christ. In this book, Pastor Gadson discusses how the enemy uses temptation, seduction, fear, isolation, guilt, shame, and other such things in order to steal and destroy a person’s life. Satan works tirelessly through various means and mechanisms to keep sinners from hearing and being receptive of the Word of God, in order to prevent them from being saved. If you have family or friends who are not born-again, this resource will help you to identify schemes that the enemy may be using to keep your loved ones from being saved. This book is intended to equip the Body of Christ to wage a good warfare against the strategies of the enemy. It is not God’s will for His people to be taken advantage of by the enemy because of ignorance. This book exposes who the enemy is, what he has done, what he is doing, and what he will try to do in the future, as an enemy of God’s people. This book is written for the everyday believer to be able to understand and use. However, it is also a helpful tool for Christian leaders to be able to identify specific ways in which the enemy desires to attack them in order to steal their influence, kill their destiny, and destroy their reputation and ministries. In this regard, it is an encouragement to the Body of Christ to guard and protect their spiritual leaders.

Excerpt:

Know Your Enemy

Before engaging in battle of any kind, it is very important to be familiar with the opposition. The more you know about your enemy, the greater you will be equipped to fight against them and be victorious. Knowing your enemy includes being knowledgeable of their strengths, weaknesses, habits, origin, and the like. When you are knowledgeable about your adversary, you become empowered to develop a plan of action or strategy to adequately defend against their opposition, overcome their threats and defensive mechanisms, and ultimately defeat them.

Athletes and those who follow sports are familiar and acquainted with this principle. Coaches and players spend hours upon hours viewing video recordings of not only their own team, but of their upcoming opponents as well. They view recordings to evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses as revealed by previous games, and they do the same to identify strengths and weaknesses of the next team they have to face.

This principle is certainly pertinent in the area of the military as well. No military general, or top ranking official who has authority over military personnel will in their right mind authorize the use of military force without adequate information concerning the enemy to be attacked. Right decisions require right information. This is especially true if you want to come out victorious and on top.

Now that we can see the importance of this principle from a natural standpoint, it makes sense that this would also apply spiritually in relation to how we are to do battle with our spiritual enemy. As you read this book, I hope that you will be able to see the importance of this material in helping you towards this very end. The reason this book is so important is because the person reading it is like a ballplayer looking at tape of his or her opponent or a military general gathering intelligence on a terrorist organization.

When you know where your enemy came from, what your enemy has done in the past, and what your enemy is presently capable of, you are more readily prepared to wage a good warfare and defeat him in any present or future encounters you may have.

Book Summary:

18 year old Magdalena Fuentes is lying naked next to her perfect lover when he tells her he is marrying someone else. It is soon clear her destiny lies with another man, even though she says she doesn’t believe in fate.

But fate doesn’t care whether we believe in it or not…

Havana, 1958. Magdalena Fuentes knows that Angel Macheda is the only man for her, even after he takes her virginity and then tells her he is engaged to someone else. She knows they are meant to be.

So why can she not stop thinking about Reyes Garcia? From the moment I saw you, he says, I knew there would be no one else.

From the moment I saw you, she tells him, I knew you were arrogant, conceited and rude.

Magdalena is a girl who will not let sentiment stand between her and love. But as Fidel Castro’s rebels tighten their grip around the city and she watches her family and her whole life come apart, she learns hard lessons about love and about life.

Against the backdrop of the boleristas and the gangsters, the music and the guns, Magdalena discovers just how dangerous love can be.

Naked in Havana is the first in a three part series, a sprawling epic of passion and destiny, stretching across three decades and two continents.

Excerpt:

You want Havana?

I’ll give you Havana.

I have Havana right here, in this old photograph album I keep up here on the bookshelf. It’s a little tattered and the photographs are all black and white, I can’t even see them these days without my glasses. But it’s the most precious thing I own, apart from my wedding ring. Reyes had to smuggle it out for me. I don’t have much else left of those days. I left Cuba with the clothes on my back and not much else.

Here’s my papi. Isn’t he handsome? He’s standing outside his nightclub, the Left Bank, down on La Rampa. I was sixteen then. Yes, stunning – that’s what everyone says. Being beautiful is a blessing and a curse. When you’re young you think you own your beauty like you think you own your youth. You don’t realise that you’re just borrowing both and that someday life will come to take them back. Perhaps I would have done things differently if I was smart enough to know that.

Or perhaps not. What a lowdown, spoiled bitch I was. You really want to read this? Don’t. Do yourself a favour, find some other book to read, because I swear, you’ll want to throttle me when you learn the things I did. But I learned my lesson. Take some comfort in that; life paid me back, in full.

Here’s my mother. I didn’t know her well. She died when I was ten. We are on the Malecón, by the sea wall, back in the early fifties before everything went to hell. Look how she’s holding me. She must have loved me but I can’t even remember her face now, not without this photograph to remind me.

People treat you like a princess, because they love you, because you’ve lost your mother. And because your daddy’s rich, you think it’s always going to be like that. But life always finds a way to keep us honest, that’s what I found anyway.

And if life doesn’t, death will.

But I got lucky. Reyes Garcia came along, and changed everything.

But first there was Havana.

About the Author:

Colin Falconer

Colin Falconer was born in North London, and spent most of his formative years at school playing football or looking out of the window wishing he was somewhere else.

After failing to make the grade as a professional football player, he spent much of his early years traveling, hitch-hiking around Europe and North Africa and then heading to Asia.

His experiences in Bangkok and India later inspired his thriller VENOM, which became a debut bestseller in the UK and his adventures in the jungles of the Golden Triangle of Burma and Laos were also filed away for later, the basis of his OPIUM series about the underworld drug trade.

He later moved to Australia and worked in advertising, before moving to Sydney where he freelanced for most of Australia’s leading newspapers and magazines, as well as working in radio and television.

He has over 40 books in print. HAREM was an enormous bestseller in Germany and THE NAKED HUSBAND was only kept out of the number one spot in Australia by Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code. AZTEC stayed on the bestseller lists in Mexico for four months. He is a bestseller in Europe and his work has sold into translation in 23 countries around the world.

He travels regularly to research his novels and his quest for authenticity has led him to run with the bulls in Pamplona, pursue tornadoes across Oklahoma and black witches across Mexico, go cage shark diving in South Africa and get tear gassed in a riot in La Paz. He also completed a nine hundred kilometre walk of the camino in Spain.

He did not write for over five years following personal tragedy but returned to publishing in 2010 with the release of SILK ROAD and then STIGMATA. His historical novel ISABELLA was an Amazon bestseller last year.

His likens his fiction most closely to Wilbur Smith and Ken Follett – books with romance and high adventure, drawn from many periods of history.

His latest book is the romantic suspense, Naked in Havana.

In my own life, it is becoming ever apparent that I have been getting too caught up in all the technology at our fingertips. I am making it a point to disengage from technology at a certain point each day and not to turn the technology on until I’m ready to begin my day.

A memory from long, long ago begins to unfold in Miriam’s thoughts—something about a promise she made to perform a selfless act of courage. Could it be true? Could she ever rise to such heroism or is it just a hallucination? While at the inn, Miriam experiences a series of flashbacks from a life she lived in an ancient land called Ruberah. These startling images convince Miriam that she did write the promise and that she must keep it. But to do so, Miriam will have to let go of everything in her life and place her trust in a guide—the river girl—the wise and eternal spirit of the River Tamar.

Who is your favorite character from the book?

Miriam who longs to be in a loving relationship with Mitch. Miriam fears aging and the possibility of growing old alone. A little overweight, she struggles to take the pounds off only to binge eat to feed her emotions and pack them back on. Miriam is strong, humorous, and painfully vulnerable.

–Interview at The Book Connection

This was a really great YA Fantasy book and even adults will love the whole story behind this amazing book.

–Review, Mary’s Cup of Tea

Three things I keep in mind as I write in the paranormal romance genre.  1) The romance drives the story… 2) Build strong characters with realistic conflicts… 3) Know the mythology upon which you base your story. Or create one….

–Guest post, Rebecca’s Writing Services

Who is your perfect hero and why? Mr. Rochester of Charlotte Bonte’s Jane Eyre. Damaged and tethered to an insane wife hidden in the attack, Edward Rochester remains unlovable and unforgivable for his treatment of Jane until the end. Then in the exquisite language of Charlotte Bronte, he comes shining through. “I’ve longed for thee, both with soul and flesh …” Mmm!

–Interview, Booklover Sue

HOW I CHOOSE THE SETTING FOR MY NOVELS My second novel, Written in Ruberah is set in Cornwall, England, where I was born and raised. In this book I wanted to explore the character of Tamara, a beautiful nymph from an old Cornish legend whose father turned her into a river of tears, which formed the River Tamar.

–Guest post, Laurie’s Thoughts and Reviews

Without giving anything away, what would you say is a pivotal point in the book?

The main character Miriam longs to be in a committed relationship with her boyfriend Mitch, but she can’t realize that love due to a debt she carries from Ruberah. Miriam, a down-to-earth real estate broker from New York City, is skeptical of past lives, time travel, and water spirits, until she meets a blood relative from a life she led in ancient Ruberah. This brings a rush of love and memories as close and as real to Miriam as her own breath.
Paranormal romance? Best oxymoron yet?
Paranormal romance? Best oxymoron yet? Let’s vote on that.In the recent movie Her, Amy Adams’ character says falling in love is like legalized insanity. I’m down with that. What do you think?Would you call yourself an “into the light or into the dark” writer?I’d slot myself into light side, however I rouse around in the dark a lot in both my novels.
Christina Greenaway grew up in Cornwall, England in a small fishing village. One of her favorite pastimes as a child was to write a story, stuff it in a bottle, toss it into the sea, and imagine all her characters – pirates, kings, and others – come to life. Her life twisted and turned, however, in so many ways that she never ventured into writing until now, many years later. Her novels include themes generated from her life experiences including: trust, the fantasy parent, empowerment, work and travel and spiritual power.
Christina has worked at BBC radio in England, a NYC high-powered ad agency, as assistant to the president of a perfume company in France, as a partner for a frog farm in Costa Rica, and numerous other venues. Thy Will Be Done by Ronald W. Kirk Virtual Book Tour Highlights

TWBD larger cover

The world cries out for an imaginative but realistic Biblical guide to the life foreshadowed in Christ’s model prayer. No foolish utopia, here is a powerful, comprehensive portrait of a sinful world redeemed and transformed by Christ—including the tools needed to hasten the day.

The author weaves a tapestry of possibility–Christ’s people growing as salt and light, putting flesh on the Bible’s vision of blessing in every aspect of human life and endeavor, bringing joy to all peoples and glory to the One who came to save the world.

“Ron Kirk comprehensively applies the Lordship of Christ to all areas of life” (Peter Hammond, The Reformation Society, South Africa).

Nordskog Publishing: http://www.nordskogpublishing.com/book-thy-will-be-done.shtml

Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Thy-Will-Be-Done-Blessed/dp/0988297655/

In my life’s work identifying the Biblical goals of education and its methods, I, with many friends and mentors contributing, produced what might be called a crafted systematic theology of applied faith—the Word of God applied to everything in this life in anticipation of the next! This work identifies God’s goals for His people. These include character, faith, wisdom and skill. Then we apply our understanding, by faith, to ourselves in all things, all of life’s activities on Christ’s behalf according to His gifts and calling. What are the proper limits of godly expression and influence? There are none. “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31*).

–Guest post at The Story Behind the Book

The author weaves a tapestry of possibility–Christ’s people growing as salt and light, putting flesh on the Bible’s vision of blessing in every aspect of human life and endeavor, bringing joy to all peoples and glory to the One who came to save the world.

–My Devotional Thoughts

Powerful in content and meaning, this guide reveals how a true godly society would function. Both informative and inspirational, Thy Will Be Donereminds us of the responsibility we have as Christians to pursue seeing God’s will being done on earth “as it is in heaven” and embracing the charge of The Great Commission to “go and make disciples of all the nations.”

–Cheryl’s Christian Book Connection

What do you feel is the greatest obstacle to transforming our communities?

Ron: We are all products of our heritage and upbringing. Overcoming the predisposition of these things is difficult. God designed men not to be moved by every wind of doctrine. Therefore change comes hard. The cure for this is heeding the message of Christ from the beginning of His earthly ministry—repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. We must actively seek how God wishes us to change, educating ourselves, and then endeavoring to practice by faith what we learn of Him.  God works through one obedient person at a time, until He produces a great cloud of witnesses.
–PUYB Virtual Book Club Book Discussion
Today, with repentant hearts (2 Chronicles 7:14), we may see a revival of conditions where Christians are truly salt and light in the earth. We will truly help to prepare the soil of men’s hearts, rendering them ready for salvation and true discipleship.
–Guest post at Lori’s Reading Corner
His commentary in Thy Will Be Done is fascinating yet very much in the know with what we should be doing in our households with our own families as well as in our daily work life even our church life. Being dedicated to God is a great mission but being dedicated to winning souls for the Kingdom is even better. The author has several thoughts on many, many different things that should be of utmost importance to every Christian.

–A Simple Life, Really?

Jesus Christ graced Ron with salvation late in his college career at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 1974. In entering his first church ministry, a lack of a RonKirk-photo-SAM_1429Biblical material on education led him to the Christian History Movement and the works of R.J. Rushdoony. Since 1980, Ron has studied and taught the Biblically and historically identified applied-faith theology and philosophy outlined in this book.

God gave Ron a voracious appetite for learning about everything. Ron studied math and physics in college, and then pursued professional landscape architecture—design is a central component to his calling. He gained a passion for education after finding that a full-orbed Biblical treatment of education was nowhere to be found in contemporary literature.

Ever since about 1977, Ron devoted his life to understand God’s earthly and eternal purposes for mankind, to help others know them, and to derive and spread a thoroughly Biblical system of education aimed toward God’s ends for His people.

Ron’s success in pioneering day and home schools has long proven the effectiveness of systematic Biblical thinking. His work has been published internationally and translated into Spanish. Gloriously married since 1971, Ron and Christina have five children, five more sons- and daughters-in-law, and eleven grandchildren, all walking with Christ. American Heritage Christian Church ordained Ron in 1984.

I thought this story was very sweet. At first, the other cows seem like mean bullies when they shut poor Mary Elizabeth out of their social circle, but I appreciated that Mary Elizabeth hunkers down with a plan of action. She uses her own ingenuity to take care of the problem and she does it with confidence.

–Alicia Finn Noack

I loved how upbeat, encouraging and positive Mary Elizabeth is throughout the story and thought the way children are encouraged and taught that everyone is different no matter if we have spots or not was perfect!

–Classic Children’s Books

I adored this wonderful book.  What a cute and clever way to teach about discrimination to young kids.

–Mrs. Mommy Booknerd’s Book Reviews

What a fun book that also teaches a valuable lesson about acceptance. The illustrations are so eye catching and the story really is an easy read that will have youngsters wanting to read along. The humor woven into the story really had me smiling, but the overall message of acceptance is one that really makes this a wonderful book for youngsters.
