Rebuilding Civilization on the Bible by Dr. Jay Grimstead – Win a $25 Amazon Gift Card

Rebuilding Civilization on the Bible coverTitle:  Rebuilding Civilization on the Bible: Proclaiming the Truth on 24 Controversial Issues

About the book:

False teachings threatening to corrupt the Church forced the leaders to join in councils, where they codified the orthodox teaching of the Bible into creeds received by the Church as faithful distillations of Scriptural truth and as a bulwark against future corruption. Error, heresy, and outright paganism are today common in churches that were once sound. Even many “better” churches have little depth to their teaching and are silent on critical issues of the day, and even in some paganism masquerades as Christianity.

This book is the fruit of the work of hundreds of theologians and Christian leaders working throughout a 37-year period to define and defend the key Biblical points on 24 controversial issues — which would not even be controversial if all believed like Jesus and Paul in the inerrancy of the Bible.

This book states the Bible’s position on 24 controversial issues and explains why each document needed to be written. It offers the global Body of Christ tools for reforming the Church and motivating Christians to live in obedience to Christ and to all commands in the Bible intended for us.

Excerpt:

“We heartily invite all Christians on this planet who desire to live in obedience to the Bible in all areas of life at all times, to form themselves and their local churches into “United Spiritual Armies” at the city and county levels, and to establish a network with other such churches and “spiritual armies” at their state and national levels with the goal of making Christ King of their cities and nation. We invite you to join with us in applying these 24 DOCUMENTS to the life of the Church and in making 2 Cor. 10:5 a reality. By that we mean that together we are called by God to destroy “speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.”

Written in Ruberah by P. Christina Greenway Virtual Book Tour Highlights

Written in Ruberah Cover

New York real estate broker Miriam Lewis takes off for a brief getaway to a remote inn on the rugged cliffs of Cornwall. Rest and romance with her boyfriend seem like the perfect cure for a life that appears to be going nowhere, and too fast. Entering Cornwall, Miriam crosses the River Tamar and glimpses a luminous girl floating in the river. A memory from long, long ago begins to unfold in Miriam’s thoughts—something about a promise she made to perform a selfless act of courage. Could it be true? Could she ever rise to such heroism or is it just a hallucination? While at the inn, Miriam experiences a series of flashbacks from a life she lived in an ancient land called Ruberah. These startling images convince Miriam that she did write the promise and that she must keep it. But to do so, Miriam will have to let go of everything in her life and place her trust in a guide—the river girl—the wise and eternal spirit of the River Tamar.

Who is your favorite character from the book?

Miriam who longs to be in a loving relationship with Mitch. Miriam fears aging and the possibility of growing old alone. A little overweight, she struggles to take the pounds off only to binge eat to feed her emotions and pack them back on. Miriam is strong, humorous, and painfully vulnerable.

–Interview at The Book Connection

This was a really great YA Fantasy book and even adults will love the whole story behind this amazing book.

–Review, Mary’s Cup of Tea

Three things I keep in mind as I write in the paranormal romance genre.  1) The romance drives the story… 2) Build strong characters with realistic conflicts… 3) Know the mythology upon which you base your story. Or create one….

–Guest post, Rebecca’s Writing Services

Who is your perfect hero and why? Mr. Rochester of Charlotte Bonte’s Jane Eyre. Damaged and tethered to an insane wife hidden in the attack, Edward Rochester remains unlovable and unforgivable for his treatment of Jane until the end. Then in the exquisite language of Charlotte Bronte, he comes shining through. “I’ve longed for thee, both with soul and flesh …” Mmm!

–Interview, Booklover Sue

HOW I CHOOSE THE SETTING FOR MY NOVELS My second novel, Written in Ruberah is set in Cornwall, England, where I was born and raised. In this book I wanted to explore the character of Tamara, a beautiful nymph from an old Cornish legend whose father turned her into a river of tears, which formed the River Tamar.

–Guest post, Laurie’s Thoughts and Reviews

Without giving anything away, what would you say is a pivotal point in the book?

The main character Miriam longs to be in a committed relationship with her boyfriend Mitch, but she can’t realize that love due to a debt she carries from Ruberah. Miriam, a down-to-earth real estate broker from New York City, is skeptical of past lives, time travel, and water spirits, until she meets a blood relative from a life she led in ancient Ruberah. This brings a rush of love and memories as close and as real to Miriam as her own breath.
Paranormal romance? Best oxymoron yet?
Paranormal romance? Best oxymoron yet? Let’s vote on that.In the recent movie Her, Amy Adams’ character says falling in love is like legalized insanity. I’m down with that. What do you think?Would you call yourself an “into the light or into the dark” writer?I’d slot myself into light side, however I rouse around in the dark a lot in both my novels.
Christina Greenaway grew up in Cornwall, England in a small fishing village. One of her favorite pastimes as a child was to write a story, stuff it in a bottle, toss it into the sea, and imagine all her characters – pirates, kings, and others – come to life. Her life twisted and turned, however, in so many ways that she never ventured into writing until now, many years later. Her novels include themes generated from her life experiences including: trust, the fantasy parent, empowerment, work and travel and spiritual power.

I thought this story was very sweet. At first, the other cows seem like mean bullies when they shut poor Mary Elizabeth out of their social circle, but I appreciated that Mary Elizabeth hunkers down with a plan of action. She uses her own ingenuity to take care of the problem and she does it with confidence.

–Alicia Finn Noack

I loved how upbeat, encouraging and positive Mary Elizabeth is throughout the story and thought the way children are encouraged and taught that everyone is different no matter if we have spots or not was perfect!

–Classic Children’s Books

An adorable story of acceptance and friendship…

–The Children’s and Teens’ Book Connection

Author Salvatore Barbera tells the story of differences and friendship in a fun way.

–Lynn’s Corner

A simple story with a clever message…

–Deco My Heart

This is a cute picture book teaching kids that it doesn’t matter if we are different.

–4 the Love of Books

This is a charming story that uses humor and planning to teach youngsters how to overcome obstacles.

–Thoughts in Progress

I adored this wonderful book.  What a cute and clever way to teach about discrimination to young kids.

–Mrs. Mommy Booknerd’s Book Reviews

What a fun book that also teaches a valuable lesson about acceptance. The illustrations are so eye catching and the story really is an easy read that will have youngsters wanting to read along. The humor woven into the story really had me smiling, but the overall message of acceptance is one that really makes this a wonderful book for youngsters.

Q: Do you tend to base your characters on real people or are they totally from your imagination?

A: It’s interesting how many people I went to school with say to me that they have figured out that, “Nicole is so and so, or Jason is based on so and so.” Popular theories are that DeDe is based on an ex-girlfriend from high school and that Jason is based on me.

Mr. Sergi, keep up the good work. I was thoroughly entertained and had no problems giving this book to my nine year-old daughter who also loved the book.

At the end of the day, Sky Girl and the Superheroic Adventures, and the character of Sky Girl is the culmination of reading far too many great comics, finding far too few strong female characters and loving my daughter just enough.  I would like to thank you for letting to talk about the secret origin of Sky Girl.

If you have a young girl in the house, like 12 to 16, I think this book will go over eally super. It is light on violence and bad words. It also has some really good quality values that seep through and hopefully stick with your child and help guide them in real life.

Two Are Better by Tim and Debbie Bishop Book Tour Highlights

Two Are Better new cover

From an engagement to a cross-country trip in just ten weeks? And with no experience in bicycle touring—or marriage? While Tim left behind a 26-year corporate career and familiar surroundings, Debbie was about to enter a “classroom” she hadn’t seen in her 24 years of teaching. Was it a grand getaway or a big mistake?

“It’s not always best to move at breakneck speed. The faster we go, the greater chance that we’re simply spinning in circles—and getting nowhere fast! Speed can give the illusion that you’re making progress even while it robs you of the joys of everyday living. It blocks you from making it to that long sought after destination—the one that lies deep within. Slowing the pace allows you to absorb more of what’s around you. It helps you discover a new perspective, intriguing surprises around the next corner, and a deeper appreciation for life itself.”
–Guest post from Lori’s Reading Corner

What was your greatest challenge writing this book?

We faced challenges on a multitude of fronts. Since we included photography and reproduced the entire book in color, the layout as well as the dual-author narrative presented challenges that most trade paperbacks—or ebooks for that matter—do not face. Once we had decided to include two narrators, we needed to reconcile and blend our styles and schedules. In many respects, the writing and production of Two Are Better became an extension of our marital bonding. We moved from one major undertaking to another, from a cross-country bicycle trek to writing and publishing a book. Both adventures made for a unique laboratory for discovering our unique formula for success and our identity as a couple.”
–Examiner interview

“Embrace life like never before. Read Two Are Better, and begin your own quest to more adventuresome living.”
–JoJo’s Corner review

“Come along and share the ride and events that happen along their trip. Some are very unusual, and there are a few chuckles too. Most of the story seems to be written by Tim, but there are reports by Debbie…enjoy two different perspectives of the same event!”
–Maureen’s Musings review

“Have you ever wondered why they call it “midlife crisis”? I did too…at least until I lived through one. If you’ve not arrived there yet, here’s a warning: be prepared for some issues that will either catapult you into an exciting new chapter of your life or wreak havoc with you. Remaining entrenched in unending problems is just like playing tetherball and beating down the small plot of ground around the pole. True to its nature, Two Are Better jumps off the merry-go-round of routine and turns midlife crisis upside down.”
–Guest post from Paperback Writer

” I was reminded of God’s providence, love, and provision, and I marveled at how well-suited these two were. I highly recommend this book!”
–My Devotional Thoughts review

“While not someone who is interested in cycling, that didn’t keep me from thoroughly enjoying Two Are Better. Tim speaks with an air of authority tempered by a deep love for life and Debbie has an adventurous heart. The numerous photographs and this couple’s ability to share so much of themselves make this book a truly special reading experience. You simply can’t help but get caught up in their story. I feel as if I’ve journeyed the country right alongside them and been treated to many sites I might not visit on my own. What a blessing.”

Designed for Relationship by T.J. MacLeslie Virtual Book Tour Highlights

Designed for Relationship cover

Mankind has always struggled with the big questions: Why are we here? What is life all about? The search for answers has led in many directions, not all of them helpful. In this age, we are inundated with information, but this flood of knowledge has not necessarily produced wisdom. We find answers to the really important questions as elusive as ever.

It really is all about relationship! This is the open secret, hidden in plain sight all along.

AMAZON

In Designed for Relationship, author T.J. MacLeslie’s discussion on the Trinity gave me pause. He goes back to Genesis to remind the reader that God exists as a “Them as much as a Him.” In the creation story from Genesis 1:26 it says, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;’…” I In all the years I have read and reread the Creation story, I missed God’s reference to the Godhead here. And now I wonder how much else I might have missed.

Cheryl’s Christian Book Connection first chapter review

What is one thing you hope readers will take away from this book?

I hope that they will take away a renewed hope and desire for a genuine relationship with God, as well as some tools to help them on their search. My own search has been somewhat torturous and winding, and I hope that others can learn from my gleanings and save themselves some pain along their way to finding God and becoming all that He has created them to be.

Designed for Relationship invites you to rediscover the relational nature of God and humanity in two parts: Part One examines ancient truths in the Bible to renew our vision of God and humanity; Part Two applies these truths to our lives, using The Five Circles, a practical tool to understand what it means to be human and providing a framework for growth. All of which has come as a result of my own search for God in the confusion and chaos of the real world.

Broowaha interview

Designed For Relationship is designed to pull readers back from the mundane into the miraculous, to go from mere lip service to God to whole-hearted devotion.
